Personal Space: Rethinking “Distance” Learning

In this keynote address, Robin will offer new ways of conceptualizing the phrase “distance learning,” focusing less on how distance can be mitigated with clever online strategies and tools, and more on how distance can be leveraged to enrich learning ecosystems. In particular, she will explore how inclusivity, connection, and criticality can all be enhanced through the valuing of distance. Instead of casting “personal space” as a protected border, she will inspire us to consider how distance can transform online environments into truly personal and human-centered educational spaces that empower learners and build a more collaborative knowledge community.
