Betsy Barre is the Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. She got her start in faculty development at Rice University, prior to which she held faculty positions in departments of Philosophy and Religion at Marymount Manhattan College and Lake Forest College. Trained as a comparative ethicist, she has taught introductory ethics and religion courses; specialized seminars on sexual ethics and the First Amendment; graduate courses on teaching and learning; and, most recently, a course on disagreement and democratic deliberation.
