There is a growing effort within colleges and universities to help students more easily afford required instructional materials like textbooks by replacing them with open education resources (OER). This presentation will outline key advantages and challenges with institutions who adopt the use of open-educational resources in place of traditional proprietary textbooks across some of its courses as well as across courses that represent a specific degree pathway. This presentation will provide examples of colleges and universities that are increasing their use of OER content as well as highlight key issues that make it difficult for institutions to scale their use of OER across faculty.  This presentation will also focus on providing institutions strategies to help improve the likelihood their faculty adopt, use, and continue to use OER content in their courses.
