Today, VR can transport users from around the world to an interactive and engaging environment with limitless possibilities, regardless of social, economic, or geographic disparities. Virtual reality (VR) technology has always had the potential to be used for education, but new advances that allow multiple users to enter the same virtual space and interact with one-another in real-time raises the potential for this technology to transform online and distance education opportunities in ways we never could have imagined. Using VR examples from music and entertainment, Gordon Bellamy will discuss their implications for distance and online education, and the ability to transform conversations around diversity and inclusion as he looks to the very near future of virtual reality in education.
