Certified skills are a valuable form of academic and professional capital. This session explores the use of digital credentials to verify the mastery of competencies and connect learners to new opportunities and workforce demand. The presenters draw on experience supporting a range of institutions and organizations in developing digital credential programs that verify and validate achievements in competency-based education (CBE) programs; certification; and faculty professional development, among other areas. The session explores topics such as: new ways of assessing skills that lead to outward-facing credentials that the community and workplace will value; how data from earned digital credentials can inform new programs and strengthen relationships; and innovative ways to issue and use this new form of learning currency.
