Because of the individualized orientation of most CBE programs, some instructors are expressing concern about the absence of instructor-to-student and student-to-student contact that occurs in a learning community approach to online learning. But does this have to be so? Participants will explore CBE models and approaches, primarily in higher ed, and then break into smaller groups to brainstorm ways in which online learning communities can be incorporated into CBE with strategies to make this happen. Common themes or ideas will be “harvested” and shared with the larger group.
NOTE: Part 1 of this session (10:15 am) will be a facilitated discussion around specific participants’ challenges related to this topic. For Part 2 (11:15 am) participants will break into small groups to discuss these various challenges.
